Eucharistic Trivia
Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 3:30PM Today the catechumens were filled with a million questions about the Eucharist. After a meditation about the Eucharist which used the Emmaus story for inspiration, the catechumens looked at Eucharistic Prayer A in detail from the BCP. After we had spent time finding and labeling the various parts of the prayer, the questions started to come. What emerged was a conversation that covered everything from the different Eucharistic theologies of Rite 1 and Rite 2, a discussion of the Reformation and the broad changes it brought about, to a talk about a renewal of liturgy and renewal with a mention of the Fond du Lac circus, to a variety of other topics not mentioned here. The Holy Spirit was moving throughout the room!
Because the discussion was so rich and engaging, we were not able to divide up into groups to study the other Eucharistic Prayers. We will do this next week, God willing.
