Music at St. Mark's

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing his praise in the congregation of the faithful.

Music is an integral part of our parish life. We are fortunate to have talented musicians, both professional and volunteer, within our parish, and this allows our music program to follow traditional Anglican practices.

For Solemn Masses, as well as special holy day celebrations, the choir sings a variety of chants, anthems, motets, the minor propers, and frequently the mass ordinary. The choir also sings for select Evensongs through the year. In addition to full choir Sundays, sometimes only the men or women sing for masses, giving the parish the opportunity to hear music written for only male or female voices.

Membership in the St. Mark's Choir is by audition. Auditions may be scheduled at any point during the year. Interested singers are encouraged to audition, and it is not necessary to be an Episcopalian to sing in the choir. The choir currently practices one evening a week, as well as every Sunday morning prior to high mass.
